Why these words?

Spelling and sound

English spelling does not always match the sound. Many learners say comfortable with four full syllables, or pronounce the d in Wednesday.

In lessons, every new word comes with a natural model, a slow model and a simple sound guide, so you learn the sound and the spelling together.

Recording yourself is the fastest way to hear the difference between what you think you say and what you really say.

Step 2

Listen and answer.

Listen twice without reading. Answer the questions; each answer is marked instantly. Then open the script and read it aloud.

Step 4

Train your ear.

Some English sounds do not exist in other languages, so two different words can sound the same. Press Listen and choose the word you hear.

Step 5

Talk about your world.

Real conversation starts with topics you care about. Choose a topic, try the questions with the useful phrases, and record a one-minute answer.
